I, along with over 60 others from Meadow will be walking the Relay for Life on Friday, July 11. It is rare that any organization will have this many people and it is unheard of to have this many from a church! The Relay for Life is a massive effort to raise funds for cancer research and this event is one of the most moving and inspirational community events all year long. It will be an honor to be a part of it.
Every team member is responsible to set a fund raising goal and then do whatever they can to raise that amount. My goal is $2,500.00 and you can help me. Three ways - one will cost you absolutely nothing. Keep reading...
FIRST: You can go to my Relay for Life personal web page and donate online. All online gifts are secure and tax deductible. If you prefer to mail a check, there is an address on my page for that too.
SECOND: For every new "hit" I receive on my blog starting today through next Sunday, June 15, I will personally donate .25. I know this doesn't sound like a lot, but it will add up - trust me. (For the non-techy person, every time someone comes to my blog, it lists that visit as a "hit".)
All you need to do is tell all your friends and tell your friends to tell their friends and so and so forth to come to my blog. It costs you nothing and it costs them nothing, but for every new "hit" I see listed, I will personally donate .25. If you are reading this, you have already given my blog one new "hit" and I will be donating .25 for this "hit".
BTW...blog readers and rss feeds are not listed as "hits". If you use a blog reader or an rss feed, you will need to come right to my blog.
THIRD: If you would like to "match" my commitment - let me know. Email me. It is unimaginable what could happen if a bunch of people match and it's all added together!
ONE LAST THING: If I reach my goal of $2,500, I will shave my head. We all know that when someone is going through chemo, they lose their hair. Some, unfortunately, see it as a sign of weakness. I see it as a sign of determination and fight. Shaving my head would be an honor to identify with the spirit of determination that so many have as they fight cancer.
Ready? Go to my Relay for Life personal web page and donate and start telling your friends to check out my blog!
We commend you for your participation in the Relay for Life to make a difference for someone in the future. We've lost two parents to cancer and realize the devastation of the disease. Good luck on July 11th...we know many people who will be walking in various areas of the Cities. Dave & Lois
